Bears, Badgers & Birds
In May, the mating season begins, making it the best time to encounter older, larger bears. While bears are usually solitary animals, this is when they search for partners in the lush spring forests.
May is also one of the best periods of the year for observing and photographing badgers, as their activity is at its peak. Badgers are regularly seen around our bear photography locations, and this month offers some of the highest chances of encountering them.
On fresh spring mornings, you can photograph birds from our Water-Station Hide. This hide is nestled just a short distance from the forest and offers eye-level photography at a carefully designed drinking pool. It is regularly visited by numerous species, including European Green Woodpecker, Grey-headed Woodpecker, Wryneck, Green Sandpiper, Crossbill, Hawfinch, and many others.
The package includes three nights of full-board accommodation, three afternoon bear photography sessions, and two morning session in our Water-station hide.
Slovenianbears offers ideal sighting options, however, sightings cannot be guaranteed. Nature follows its own set of rules. The program may change due to weather conditions, wildlife activity, or the time of year.
With a bit of luck, you can capture stunning photographs of mature males and females during this mating season.
The Water-Station Hide, near our accommodation, features a reflex glass window with soundproofing to keep birds undisturbed. It’s an excellent spot for photographing birds like European Green Woodpecker, Grey-headed Woodpecker, Wryneck, Green Sandpiper, Crossbill, Hawfinch, and many others.

Recommended photo equipment: telephoto lens, tripod, beanbag, tripod head
Transportation to bear hides: we are asking you to follow us with your own vehicles to the bear hide locations.
